Michael Clark II Wins Inaugural Event

The John Deere Classic, now a staple on the PGA Tour, has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1971. The inaugural tournament, then known as the Quad Cities Open, was won by Michael Clark II, who became the first champion to be crowned at TPC Deere Run.

Michelle Wie Makes History

In 1999, a teenage Michelle Wie made her first appearance at the tournament as a sponsor's exemption. Despite being only 14 years old, she made a lasting impression with her impressive performance.

Spieth's Dominance

Jordan Spieth emerged victorious in the 2015 John Deere Classic, securing his second win at the event. The 2015 tournament also featured a thrilling playoff between Spieth and Tom Gillis.

Beman's Legacy

Deane Beman, who later went on to serve as PGA Commissioner, was the first two-time winner of the tournament, then known as the Quad Cities Open. After being renamed the John Deere Classic in 1975, David Gossett notched his first PGA Tour victory at the event in 1980.
